With a fantastic coastline and some beautiful inland water, the area around Dolgellau provides a variety of sailing venues to suit all abilities.
Llyn Tegid at Bala is 4-miles long and 1-mile wide and provides a good day's sailing in a safe environment. Bala has both a sailing club with clubhouse and launching facilities and a catarmaran club - both of which welcome visiting sailors and run courses for beginners.
For more experienced sailors or those who prefer off-shore sailing there are clubs at Barmouth, Aberdyfi and Porthmadog. Both Bala and Merioneth Yacht Club at Barmouth are RYA training centres and offer courses including from childrens' sailing, personal watercraft tuition(powerboat tuition including the International Certificate of Competence, powerboat level 2 is available at Barmouth). Shore based tuition on varying items such as VHF radio and navigation is also available. For further information see the club websites.
