Coed y Brenin

Coed y Brenin is Forestry Commission Wales premier recreation site.

The conceptual circular visitor centre, which is open 7 days a week, was opened in August 2007 and has won a number of awards for its innovative design and "green" features.

The centre and facilities are designed to be family friendly with café, toilet, showers, meeting room, bike hire facilities, childrens' play areas and a wide range of walks and cycle trails.

The walking trails are suitable for all abilities, from a series of wheelchair friendly routes built to Fieldfare Trust standards to rough mountain trails visiting the more remote areas of the forest. All of the trails are linked by a strong set of themes based on the natural environment and industrial heritage. For those with a more energetic nature there are also orienteering courses and a running trail.

Coed y Brenin is known as one of the best places to come mountain biking in the UK. There are a number of waymarked routes available, from a family friendly trail based along quiet forest roads to the extremes of the adrenalin pumping single tracks of the Tarw, Beast and Dragons Back. All of the trails (see map) start and finish at the visitor centre where there is plentiful parking.
