dolgellau park

Touting for votes for Dolgellau park For the past two years, a local community group have been looking at ways of improving what was once one of Dolgellau’s most prized features – the town’s park. Sadly in recent years, the park has suffered from a lack of funds and poor maintenance resulting in many of the facilities falling into disrepair and disuse.

The ‘Parc Dolgellau’ project is made up of volunteers from the local community who felt strongly that something needed to be done to provide children, young people and the wider community with further recreational opportunities by improving facilities in the park.

The project was fortunate in being shortlisted for an award by the People’s Millions Big Lottery Fund along with 7 other projects in Wales and on Tuesday 27th November 2007, Dolgellau went head-to-head with another cause on ITV Wales Evening News in a bid to secure public support by phone vote. The vote was won by Dolgellau and the £80,000 funding was secured. This is now being used to match fund against to raise enough money for the project to be completed.
