Explore Snowdonia and it's Food
Taste/Blas Dolgellau - 15-17th October, 2010
Taste/Blas Dolgellau, being held in Snowdonia over a full weekend, 15th - 17th October, celebrates Wales' newest food festival. In the shadow of the dramatic Cader Idris mountain range and haunting Mawddach estuary where outdoor pursuits abound, visitors can satisfy those well-earned cravings from a choice of over 28 gastronomic events.
Although Taste/Blas Dolgellau centres around an expanded Dolgellau Farmer’s Market and Trade Fair on Sunday, 17th October, showcasing speciality producers from across North and Mid Wales other venues such as boutique guest houses, historic manor houses and even a yurt will also be opening their doors to offer a full weekend of activities.
Visitors will be able to work up an appetite and keep the tummy rumbles at bay by walking or cycling the famous Mawddach Trail, complete with guide book and pack lunch; foraging for wild food in the company of a local bushcraftsman; or attending a fancy-dress medieval banquet in a secluded country house. And all members of the family will be equally enlightened and entertained with bee-keeping and aromatherapy demonstrations, poetry readings and Bollywood films hosted by a local Bollywood celebrity and restaurant owner.
Debra Harris, co-owner of Ffynnon boutique accommodation in Dolgellau and chair of the tourism group, Discover Dolgellau, organiser of the event, says:
“Our hope that the whole community would take part in Taste/Blas Dolgellau has been more than realised. There is a huge variety of events in such interesting venues, that visitors will be sure to enjoy exploring not only our dramatic landscape, but also our culture and the people and producers that make our community so vibrant.”
