Unique Christmas Gifts from Snowdonia
Taste/Blas Dolgellau, Snowdonia, 15-17th October, 2010
In the run up to the holidays, Taste/Blas Dolgellau, being held in Snowdonia over a full weekend, 15th - 17th October, centres around an expanded Dolgellau Farmers Market and Trade Fair on Sunday, 17th October, showcasing speciality producers from across North and Mid Wales.
The Dolgellau Farmers Market is a virtual cornucopia of handmade items all capturing the essense of the natural surroundings in the shadow of the dramatic Cader Idris mountain range and haunting Mawddach estuary. There's something for everyone from homewares made from slate, handmade preserves and gourmet chocolates, handcrafted handbags and jewellry, all made within a 20 mile radius of Dolgellau.
But shopping doesn't just have to be saved for Sunday, as throughout the rest of the weekend, many of the Taste/Blas Dolgellau event holders will also make their products available for purchase. A Bee-keeping Demonstration at Bryn Mair House and Aromatherapy Talks at Rhosgadlas will have their honey and herbal products for sale, while the Wine Tasting at Dylanwad Da Restaurant and Welsh cheese and beer tastings at Ffynnon Boutique Hotel, will also sell bottles and take-home packs of all products.
Debra Harris, co-owner of Ffynnon boutique accommodation in Dolgellau, and chair of the tourism group, Discover Dolgellau, organiser of the event, says:
“Our hope that the whole community would take part in Taste/Blas Dolgellau has been more than realised. There are such a huge variety of events in such interesting venues, that visitors will be sure to enjoy exploring, not only our dramatic landscape, but also our local people and producers that make our community so vibrant.”
